ELINDA DEL VALLE FIGUEROA

She was born on January 13th, 1957 in San Fernando, Belén, Catamarca. Elinda is a fifth generation textile, pottery, and wood handcrafter. Her work received a special prize for her track record awarded by the Sociedad Rural Argentina. When she was six (1971) she was filmed making a poncho in Jorge Preloran and Raymundo Gleyser’s documentary Sucedido en Hualfin (It happened in Hualfin). She learned her craft from her grandmother, her mother and her aunts. Today she works in her weaving workshop in Belén with her husband, children and grandchildren.
