Argentinian Provoleta (Grilled Provolone Cheese)

Provoleta is a delicious Argentine appetizer made with provolone cheese, traditionally grilled and served as a starter before meat dishes. This recipe brings out the cheese’s creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture, perfect with crusty bread or chimichurri.

Ingredients:

1½-inch thick slice of provolone cheese (or provoleta if available)

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for spice)

Olive oil

Fresh country bread, for serving


Method:

1. Preheat a grill or oven to medium heat.

2. Drizzle a cast-iron skillet with olive oil, add the cheese slice, and sprinkle with oregano and red pepper flakes.

3. Grill for 3-5 minutes on each side or bake in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes until golden and bubbling.

4. Serve immediately with warm bread and chimichurri.
