Norberto Payán

He was born on July 23rd, 1957 in Avellaneda, Buenos Aires. Following his natural vocation, he began studying in the jewelry school in Fortaleza, Brazil. In Buenos Aires he continued sharpening his art in the Jewelry School of the Municipality of the city of Buenos Aires. There he became a disciple of the renowned silversmith Marcelo Cuenca. He also increased his knowledge with the generosity of his friend and master the artisan Jorge Pablo Pallarols. He studied drawing with Rodolfo Cano, a master sculptor. When President Barack Obama visited Argentina, he received a gift crafted by Payán, presented by the governor of the province of Córdoba. It was the decorative center of a wide gaucho belt (made with highest grade silver) as was used by them in the countryside in the middle of the 19 th century.
