Silver plated alpaca rastra with colonial motif, with cow leather suspender with buckle in the back. The rastra is what the gaucho uses as a brace around the waist.
The rastra is a typical element of clothing for the gaucho of Rio Grande. It is a wide belt decorated with a metal shield that may have the owner’s initials or the farmer’s brand, as well as a chiseled flower, horse or other creole motif. Today it is still used by the traditionalist gaucho, but some women have also included it as an original fashion accessory.
